State-of-the-art facilities

Over the last few years Solent has made a £100m investment in the campus, introducing state-of-the-art facilities to enhance your learning. Their award-winning teaching and learning building, the Spark, is a centrepiece of the campus – and everything about it is centred around you and your learning. Opened in 2019, the state-of-the-art £28m sports complex offers sport and physical activity facilities for all students and staff at Solent – and superb teaching spaces for sports-focused students. 

Lively student community

Solent's lively student community is home to over 100 different nationalities giving the campus and classrooms a diverse, multicultural feel. You’ll be making friends, having fun and experiencing life as part of Southampton’s 30,000-strong student community. Southampton is a city with something for everyone. Beautiful city centre parks, an electric night-time economy and a thriving arts and music scene all meet to offer residents something truly unique. There’s plenty going on on campus as well. The Students’ Union is complemented by fitness facilities, a student-run cinema and a range of other leisure venues. 

Sport Management

Looking to further your career in the sport management industry? Solent offers an innovative management-based course maximising career potential across the scope of this dynamic, fast paced and growing sport industry. Students study a combination of management topics including marketing, business start-up, human resource management and operations as well as event organisation, sports policy and sociology modules to develop a thorough and critical understanding of sport industry issues and theory. There is also the option to specialise in two additional sport management pathways, outdoor adventure studies and football business. With employability at its core, you’ll be able to develop practical and professional skills through a variety of placement options from a four-week work placement unit to a sandwich year-long placement.

Solent Business School

Psychology

Psychology is a popular subject because it has relevance to so many areas of everyday life. It is of interest to anyone who wants to understand what causes certain elements of human behaviour and how knowledge of that behaviour can be applied. As a psychology student, you will explore how people act and interact, both as individuals and in groups, while analysing the thoughts and feelings that underlie specific behaviours. You will explore key areas of psychological study including education, crime, sport and exercise, social behaviours, therapy and counselling as well as carry out intensive study of scientific approaches to psychology. These topics, which include research methods, problem solving and manipulation of data, provide useful tools for careers in healthcare, law enforcement, finance, research and IT. 

Cyber Security Management

Want to protect the world from hackers, viruses and cyber-attacks? This practical degree course enables you develop the in-demand skills to kick start a fantastic career in cyber security – one of IT’s most hotly debated sectors. In partnership with CISCO Networking Academy and EC-Council, the course explores a range of professional topics all with your future career in mind. You will learn cutting-edge technologies, processes, strategies, policies, and industry-standards to protect network systems and data from cyber-attacks at both individual and enterprise level. During your studies you will also have the chance to gain professional qualifications alongside your degree including; CCNA Routing and Switching, CCNA-Security, CISCO CyberOps, and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) equipping you with the right set of practical and technical skills that are highly valued by the industry.
